Our Service Centre
We started out as an independent garage in March 2015 at Colm Hanly Motors and became the Mitsubishi dealer for Tipperary in 2018 and remain so to the present day.
We are one of the largest garages in the area and service all makes and models of CARS, VANS, 4X4s and CAMPERS. All vehicles being serviced at our workshop get our electronic multi-point health check.

Automatic Gearbox Service
We recently purchased a TCMatic ACE18 automatic gearbox flush machine. With this we can flush out all of the old oil in the gearbox, then replace the filters and other relevent components, and finally refill the gearbox to manufacturer’s specifications.
In general, most gearbox manufacturers say they need to be serviced every 60,000kms. Most car manufacturers say they never need to be serviced; this is only to make the car’s servicing costs seem cheaper to customers and lease companyies.
The Technical Bit
If your gearbox was never serviced before and the mileage is over 120,000kms, we recommend flushing the gearbox with at least 10 litres of oil until the oil leaving the gearbox is as clean as the oil entering the gearbox.
You can see the difference in the image below of two vehicles before and after flushing. We had already carried out a standard service on the Mitsubishi Pajero 6 months before by draining the oil and changing the filter. Notice how bad the oil was at the start and how good it was at the end:
The Process
- We hook up the machine to the gearbox oil cooler lines and fill the machine with the specific oil for your vehicle’s gearbox.
- We then set up the machine and set it to flush out the system by pumping in new oil and pushing out the old oil while, watching the glass viewers to see the oil being cleaned.
- The sump is then removed and the auto transmission oil filter is replaced.
- We use a kit like in the picture below to perform the service properly and replace the seals etc..
- Then we refill the gearbox with new oil from our TCMatic ACE18 machine and check everything to manufacturer specifications.
The reason flushing the gearbox is the only way to do this job properly is because the standard oil drain will only get 20% of the old oil out. So without flushing the system first, fitting a new filter to old oil and debris is just wasting your money and not doing the job properly.
Bosch Emissions Testing
We recently purchased a Bosch Petrol and Diesel Emissions testing machine. With this set-up, we can test vehicles for pre-NCT tests, fix NCT emission failures and diagnose engine issues or emission sensor faults. This system, combined with our Bosch KTS 540 and KTS 560 diagnostic tools, means we can find and fix all makes and models of vehicles, new and old.
